Oregon Extended Unemployment
In addition to the original 26 weeks of unemployment compensation that is offered to you by the state of Oregon, you may also be eligible for another 33 weeks. This includes several extensions by the Oregon unemployment offices. The best method of filing your Oregon unemployment claim, or filing for your extended benefits will be by using the online filing system which is located at https://ssl8.emp.state.or.us/ocs4/index.cfm?u=F20090801A153420B59648530.3139&lang=E
The original extension was for 13 weeks. The additional extension is for another 13 weeks of unemployment compensation. This is given when unemployment reaches a certain level and continues to rise. While this has been the case in Oregon, there are some signs that the Oregon economy will begin the long process of recovery soon.
The total number of weeks of extended benefits you may receive in Oregon then are 13+13, making this a total of 26 weeks of additional unemployment compensation once your original 26 weeks of unemployment are expended. This is explained in more detail by the ORegon unemployment offices web site.
To file for your extended unemployment benefits in Oregon you’re going to file at the Oregon unemployment web site which is located at https://ssl8.emp.state.or.us/ocs4/index.cfm?u=F20090801A153420B59648530.3139&lang=E You are required to continue seeking work, as well as to certify weekly for the additional unemployment compensation weeks that you claim.
If you do get notice of elegibility for extended benefits make sure to apply as soon as possible. If you have not received a notice telling you that you are eligible, then make it a point to telephone your unemployment office of Oregon to find out why you were not contacted. This may have been an error in notifications, and you need to file for your extended benefits as quickly as possible to keep your unemployment checks coming in.

This is all good and fine but my benefits run out in the middle of September. I have been religiously looking for work for a year and a half with no success. I am running out of options. If there aren’t any more unemployment extensions, my family and I will be in the street along with hundreds of thousands of others who will also loose their benefits. We have always paid our taxes and been good citizens. It is now time for our state, country, etc. to help us. Our Government put us in this mess, now they need to help us to get out. You can’t just stop unemployment and leave people to fend for themselves, if you do that, there will surely be a rise up against you. We need more extensions, we need more help until this economy gets better. That is not just a maybe but it is for sure, we need more unemployment extensions. The state of oregon has a confortable amount of money in their budget that can be used for this. They need to dig in it and help the Oregonians who need it!

What if we have used up the previous extensions and haven’t been collecting for a while but our employment conditions haven’t changed? Will we be able to collect?
